Altinkum is a beach resort situated in Didim on the west coast of Turkey. A pleasant holiday resort. Simpler than Kusadasi, Marmaris and Bodrum. Originally Altinkum was a small fishing village. At present 5 – 8,000 properties have been sold to British in Altinkum and yet still going strong. 3 years ago a 2 bedroom flat would have been £8,000 that same flat today would be worth between £25 – 30,000.
A holiday is centred around the main beach (first beach). It is the ideal holiday resort to relax in, with its three beaches of golden sands, ideal for families with children. At night Altinkum transforms into a lively place. The seafront promenade is lined with restaurants, discos, bars, etc, a variety of night life fit for all the family.
Altinkum has a warm and friendly atmosphere with almost everybody speaking English. You will find that most of the tourists have a laid back attitude towards the tourists.
Didim is close to ancient towns and many other tourist attractions. Such as Bafa Lake, Apollo Temple, Akkoy village, Miletos, Priene, Soke Market, Bodrum, Ephesus, Virgin Mary’s house, Pamukkale, Aqua park, etc. There is plenty to do for everyone.
Altinkum has a hot and sunny climate with an average of 12 hours daily sunshine, during the summer months. The Mediterranean climate is hot during the summer months reaching a temperature of approximately 30ºC. During the winter months it’s warm and rainy at approximately 10ºC.
The capital growth potential in Altinkum properties are estimated to be high, so whether your clients are looking to buy as a holiday home or as an investment the certainly represent good value for money.
Investing in Altinkum
Altinkum has only recently been the front runner for overseas property investors. It has this advantage over better known holiday resorts such as Bodrum and Marmaris, meaning property prices are still low - at an estimate, like for like prices show a margin of as much as 40% in some cases.
However since 2002 when foreign buyers have been able to buy in their own name, property prices have risen as much as 100% and more. Investors have been flying out from the UK during the winter months to pre-empt the huge increases brought by the first charter flights of the season.
